Work is now anticipated to start in March 2022. This project has been delayed by a redesign of aspects of the safety improvements. To access the Downtown area, motorists should use the following freeway exits: Traveling westbound on the 10 Freeway, exit 16A Santa Fe, 15B Alameda Street, 15A Central Ave, 14B San Pedro Street, 14A Convention Center. There are several other roads in Downtown Los Angeles that will be intermittently closed to traffic due to the Summit.Read more about the closures and changes in our Information Sheet. Please drive to the conditions and follow new line-marking. Traffic will be progressively shifted to a new alignment. From Monday 18 July, the freeway will be closed southbound to accommodate widening works and creating a safe space for road workers. Approximately 30,000 vehicles use the Western Freeway each day with upgrade set to make it stronger and more reliable.
Road maintenance works worth $600,000 were undertaken on a major section of the Western Freeway between Ravenhall and Derrimut to rebuild and reseal the pavement. I thought it was just me, but a guy was saying the other day, road makers don’t seem to be able to make decent roads anymore, their not smooth, they can’t. From 8pm Friday 6 May until 5pm Sunday 8 May the inbound lanes on the Western Freeway will be closed between the Ballarat Road interchange and Robinsons Road. It then took until 3 June 2022, however, for standard DTMR signage to finally be affixed to its eastern and western aspects.
